What is GBIS?

The Great British Insulation Scheme (formerly known as ECO+) is a national energy efficiency programme, created by the government to help eligible households to install insulation, which can reduce heat loss and cut energy bills. The programme is designed to complement the ECO4 Scheme, providing support with insulation measures for those living in homes with a low Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating in certain council tax bands.

Who can Benefit from GBIS?

You may be eligible for free insulation under GBIS if you live in a low income or vulnerable household and you receive certain benefits.

Even if you’re not eligible for benefits, you could still qualify for subsidised insulation if you meet the following criteria:

• Your home is in council tax bands A-D
• Your home has an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D or below
• Your home requires insulation
